devening projects + editions at the Spinnerei Spring 2011 Gallery Tour
Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei, Leipzig, Germany. April 30 – May 1, 2011
In 2010, I was invited to curate an installation for the 2011 Spinnerei Spring Gallery Tour in Leipzig, Germany. The Gallery Tour featured installations from 15 international galleries and curators. For the first time, a select group of projects representing a broad range of international contemporary art was featured in this annual event. Open to the public, the show took place on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday May 1, 2011, the Spring Gallery Tour showcased recent work by hundreds of artists. The installations took place in the Werkschaulle (Hall 12). As part of this historic 19th century cotton factory, the buildings of Spinnerei are now used exclusively as a cultural center for the visual and performing arts.
This exhibition included new work by Michael Pfisterer, Martin Durham, Nathaniel Robinson, Gerd Borkelmann and Christopher Michlig.
